...are going over to Oz on tour. I think they are as weak, if not weaker, than the "tour from hell side". I look forward to them getting battered!

Clive..... They are going to get butchered....in a BIG way. For this to happen they'd have to have selected a really weak side, given the Wallabies results last season.

Thats the thing Baz...not too many big guns in the English side. A lot of young players. This tour can go two ways. The young English side play well and be competitive (maybe even win....yes I am kidding) or they will be flogged like they were in 1998. I have this feeling that Australia is going to go well this year. Our backs have always been good, but the forwards have clicked up a gear this year...mind you, they couldn't get any worse. If John Connolly picks this side, I reckon we'll go okay. 1. Rodney Blake (Easily the best prop in Oz at the moment) 2. Jeremy Paul/Adam Frier (I like Friers grit around the field) 3. Greg Holmes (The Qld front row is the best in Oz...he should start) 4. Dan Vickerman (best second rower in the country) 5. Al Kanaar (I've been very impressed with this bloke, although Nathan Sharpe will probably get the nod) 6. Rocky Elsom (has been playing very very good) 7. Phil Waugh (no need to say anything about this guys work ethic) 8. George Smith (can't imagine an Aussie side without him in it) 9. George Gregan 10. Steve Larkham 11. Lote Tuquiri 12. Morgan Turinui/Sam Norton-Knight (I'm a bit worried about SNK's midfield defence) 13. Stirling Mortlock (should be captain as well) 14. Peter Hewatt/Ben Tune 15. Chris Latham A pretty solid side and capable of beating anyone on their day

Mate, i'm not kidding, its a poor England squad. The better players are either recovering from injury or rested. Loti and the others will twat them!

England rugby squad to tour Australia: Backs: I Balshaw (Gloucester), M Van Gisbergen (Wasps), J Simpson-Daniel (Gloucester), T Varndell (Leicester), T Voyce (Wasps), J Noon (Newcastle), M Tait (Newcastle), S Abbott (Wasps), M Catt (London Irish), O Barkley (Bath), A Goode (Leicester), S Bemand (Leicester), P Richards (Gloucester), N Walshe (Bath).
Forwards: G Chuter (Leicester), L Mears (Bath), A Titterrell (Sale), T Payne (Wasps), G Rowntree (Leicester), D Bell (Bath), J White (Leicester), A Brown (Gloucester), L Deacon (Leicester), C Jones (Sale), B Kay (Leicester), M Lipman (Bath), M Lund (Sale), L Moody (Leicester), P Sanderson (Worcester, captain), J Worsley (Wasps).
A lot of young players in the mix, but a number with extensive 7s experience (Tait, Varndell and Richards), and a few old heads to mix it up with the Aussies (Rowntree, White, Moody, Sanderson, Worsley, Voyce, Noon, Abbott & Catt).
I think it should be a n interesting tour, if Robinson can get them playing as a team I can see them doing well. ;D

Thomas's team is probably close enough to what will be selected for Australia. I notice Ben Cohen is missing. Has wigan finally succumed & brought him to bolster their flagging fortunes? If the Australian front row can hold up the scrum England might be in for a pasting. But that's a big "if".

If Connolly selects Blake and Holmes as the props, the Aussies will at least hold their own in the scrums.
I just have a feeling another big win is forthcoming....just something how they've dropped a few players who would have thought they were shoe-ins for the Wallabies and have gone on form.
Hopefully Staniforth will get the nod at 12. I don't think Connolly is one for moving players out of position. Mortlock needs to play at 13...thats where he plays his best footy.
A highly mobile back row of Smith, Heenan and Elsom would also be devastating.
My predicted score for the first match: 43-17....

Yes, Mike Catt, that old, rubbish player who isn't even English get back into the squad at the age of 76! Eddie Butler in the Observer last weekend bemoaned the quality of rugby in the season just gone. You can see why with the squad they had to pick, very poor. Ben Cohen isn't even good enough for club rah rah right now Bas, and he never was good enough for league!

You can always count on a reaction from you kel at the mention of Cohen's name. Are you sure he didn't have his way with your sister at some stage? ?
