I was watching the S15 at the weekend, and looking at (particularly) the amount of running from the 22. If you had just come, seen the kick and the catch, the game could have been League until the ruck. Even then, the re-cycling is on average almost a PTB (and yes, I have to admit it, the speed of recycling is in some ways better than a PTB).
When you look at other aspects such as the forward crash ball play, the game is really becoming better and better( and of course more and more League like). Also, look at the offloads, stand ups in the tackle etc.
What I am looking for though is any stats on the difference between the game today and twenty years ago at top level in areas such as said runs from the 22, average number of scrums, and ball in play time etc.
Any help appreciated
