Yes the Wembley attendance was over 84,000 (I was there), which was good considering the number of Club Wembley seats i.e debentures used to finance the stadium, mainly for football, but will also include the RL cup final.
Considering that a few days before the England v Germany football game only had 86,000 on, it was a good attendance.......and this is a good one, the highest attendance for any code of rugby involving a French rugby team.
Apparently the BBC screened the game without any crowd noise/atmosphere at all.....totally bizarre.

I suppose the fact that the Wembly crowd being the largest ever for a french rugby side was totally unconnected to a recent Stephen Jones article that dismissed the Catalans as being a fake transplanted team full of aussies?
.......tosser!

Was there any explanation for the removal of the comments for a while from the article?

Back to the Jones article. Some of his comments were outrageous - "St Helens, won it and that it was a decent family day out in a magnificent stadium, despite the horrific drunken Aussies behind us)". I find that difficult to believe!!

Probably the first time they've encountered decent cold beer! It's a very British thing, if you ever take a ferry from England to France, most of the holiday makers will be shit-faced before the ship docks! It certainly makes you "proud"!

Sounds like the "pride"I feel when I watch a GB reality TV show Then again - I do watch "life on mars" or a Schama doco and I get all misty eyed about the BBC
