Has signed for Bath RU from this November after the RL season has finished. A very strange one this. It's been rumoured for weeks. I can't see what's in it for either party.

I believe Bath had been interested in him for a while and apparently Melbourne Storm were too. He's a bit young to retire though ( hee - hee ).

Didn't he once play a game or footy with a house arrest/parole bracelet on?

He's a centre, the move is part funded by the English ru so he's a shoe-in for the national side.

BTW Kel - Gasnier resigned with the Dragons. An interesting process - the aru withdrew their offer after their deadline had passed & Gasnier drew an inflated contract from the Dragons. It couldn't be that players & their managers are using negotiations with ru to inflate their contracts now could it?! Has that happened in gb at all?

Hard to say for sure but I think most people would say yes. In years gone by British rl players used to say they fancied having a go in the nrl, now its union. Few of these switches actually happen. Some may belive, from reading headlines, that a league to union player drain in happening, truth is its not.

Pretty much the same here. Apart from Sailor, Tuquiri, & Roger there have been few defections. NSW chased Andrew Johns last year, but the aru was against the deal because of Johns age & so he didn't swap, but did manage to extricate an extremely good contract from rl. Gasnier is in the same boat. Ryan Cross from Easts is considering a swap (has played soo I think), but he had a rugby background. Willie Tonga is another considering the swap. Apart from them a few lower grade players have changed over but that's about it. Hardly a drain at all.
Had a look at the site you posted the link to. Might have a go there but will stay here for the present. As you said its mainly you & me talking. Even rus has given up the good fight!

BTW, Walker's not that big winger that played in the last tri-nations? I think he did, he's big, strong and fast. I can't help thinking the English ru have gone for the wrong player again. He doesn't offer much they don't already have (except fitness and a league background). There are better centres than him running around in English league right now but he is out of contract in November, perhaps that clinched it?

Didn't he once play a game or footy with a house arrest/parole bracelet on? Think he did. He is a league player through and through... Three rugby league players, including two of the current Great Britain squad, have been jailed after being caught on camera brawling in the street.
Leeds Rhinos and England star Chev Walker, 20, was sent to a young offenders' institution for 18 months.
Rhino's team-mate and Great Britain squad member Ryan Bailey, 19, was also given nine months detention in a young offenders institution at Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday.
The third player, Rochdale Hornets' Paul Owen, 24, was jailed for 15 months for his part in a fight which broke out outside a Leeds night-club in July last year.
Sentencing the players, Judge Batty said the violence which erupted outside the nightclub was "mindless, dangerous and drunken".
He said: "CCTV footage graphically illustrated in clear terms what each of you did during the four minutes of violence.
"You ought to be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves.
"Each of you brought disgrace on the game of rugby league, on your clubs and most of all on yourselves." news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yorkshire/3104617.stm ;D

Converting to rugby helped Jason Robinson put behind him his dark alcohol fueled days of league, let us pray that Chev is saved in a similar manner from his evil past. ;D
