Looking good Kel......
England dealt massive first-up loss Canberra November 10, 2006 - 5:30PM
England was dealt a massive defeat in its opening match of the Ashes tour, as the Prime Minister's XI thrashed the visitors by 166 runs in their one-day cricket match at Canberra's Manuka Oval.
As I said , early days so no real prediction.....yet.

England are always slow starters, can't read too much into that defeat. Think home advantage might swing it for Australia. Will be another great series.

How popular is cricket in England - is there any class divide in the game like ru for example?

How popular is cricket in England - is there any class divide in the game like ru for example? Its popular but every sport over here plays second fiddle to football (soccer to you lot!). There is a class divide but less clearly defined and as offensive as the union one here, but that's just my view!

Cricket provides a sporting outlet in a number of the smaller towns and villages in England, and some employ full-time pro's even in towns of 2-3000 folk. There is less of a class divide. A lot of League, Union and soccer players also play cricket.
Interestingly, Scotland has more participants in cricket than in RU!

Interestingly, Scotland has more participants in cricket than in RU! Well I didn't know that! Well done Scotland. And of course if there are more cricketers than ru players in Scotland then there must by necessity kel be MANY more cricketers than rl players in Scotland. Just thought I'd point that out!

Nobody else did so I thought this was probably worth mentioning:
Australia 9/602 & 1/202 1st Inns: Ponting 196, Hussey 86, Langer 82, Flintoff 4/99. 2nd Inns: Langer 100*, Ponting 60*
England 157 & 370 1st Inns: Bell 50, McGrath 6/50, Clark 3/21. 2nd Inns: Collingwood 96, Pietersen 92, Clark 4/72, Warne 4/124
Australia won by 277 runs with captain Ricky Ponting named Man of the Match. Just thought I'd take the risk of payback in the 2nd test & bring this to your attention, lads!

Winners be grinners kel - must I draw your attention to that "nasty" photo of celebrating NZers after their tri-nations win. BTW England are on top in the 2nd test and looking good.
